Wanaka and Queenstown, New Zealand - Ski Escape: Join this group trip

From September 3 to September 11. Explore New Zealand's Wanaka and Queenstown ski resorts in the company of new ski friends.

Trip Hosts: Shandelle McCurdie and Braydon Ritchie
About this Trip:

This trip runs from September 3 to 11 and includes two destinations, Wanaka and Queenstown.

*All skier and boarder levels welcome. Non-skiers welcome!

Visitors from around the world are drawn to Wanaka for its outstanding beauty, friendly locals and proximity to world class mountains. This vibrant small town has it all – stylish boutiques, thriving food & drink scene and is home to two ski areas, Treble Cone and Cardrona. Treble Cone holds some impressive titles; it is the largest ski area in the South Island and boasts the longest vertical rise. Cardrona is known for its consistent snow conditions thanks to its higher altitude and easterly-facing basins. With wide open slopes & plenty of space for everyone. It also features the most extensive terrain park facilities in the Southern Hemisphere, with 4 different parks that cater for all levels of skier or rider including 2 halfpipes, a big air, world cup slopestyle course & a gravity cross course!

Queenstown tops the list of New Zealand ski destinations to visit. Coronet Peak is New Zealand’s original home of skiing with stunning views and roller coaster terrain. Coronet Peak opened in 1947 as New Zealand’s first commercial ski field and has paved the way ever since with the establishment of night skiing and NZ’s longest ski day with First Tracks. The Big Mountain experience waits for you at The Remarkables. Drop into sun-soaked bowls and world-renowned chutes while you take in the spectacular views across the Queenstown valley and beyond. For the pros, take it to the next level at any of the five terrain parks including The Burton Stash (one of only six in the world) or hike the chutes where the world’s best compete at The North Face Frontier, a 4* World Cup Qualifier Event.

A note from your hosts, Shandelle and Braydon

As former SkiCan sales associates, we are excited to be the hosts for the New Zealand Ski Escape. For the last year we have been backpacking through Ireland, the UK and Southeast Asia, and have recently landed in Mollymook Beach on the South Coast of Australia. We are both very outgoing and always up for an adventure. We are currently enjoying the challenging transition from snowboarding to surfing. Braydon is a seasonal firefighter when in Canada, and loves playing basketball. Shandelle enjoys all things creative and can often be found with a new sketch or painting underway. Buckle up your boots, it’s going to be a great adventure on the Kiwi slopes.
