A Vast Alpine Paradise
The French Alps are home to some of the biggest and best ski resorts in the world. The relatively high altitude produces some of the lightest and driest snow in all of Europe. "Cham" has long been a stomping ground for die hard skiers, yet it still has something to offer for everyone: a vibrant nightlife, 6 resorts that span across 3 countries, local gastronomic specialties... the list goes on.
Dominated by Mont Blanc, the Alps' highest peak, the valley of Chamonix anchors six ski areas, including the challenging Grands Montets. A favorite attraction is the Vallee Blanche, a day-long 23km excursion that starts at the summit of l’Aiguille du midi at an altitude of 3,842 metres, and runs all the way down to Chamonix. Cosmopolitan and lively, Chamonix offers more entertainment than you would normally expect at a ski resort. Après-ski devotees have plenty of choice between shopping, restaurants, bars, discos, a casino, and a sports centre.
Chamonix Mont Blanc is easily accessible from Geneva. The resort is less than 15km from the Swiss frontier, and Italy is on the other side of the Mont Blanc range.
Luggage fees are not included in your Skican package. These are paid directly to the airline - currently AC 1st piece free, 2nd piece $100 each direction. Ski boot bag and ski bag count as one piece as long as they do not contain anything other than skis, boots, and ski poles.
