If you have never skied in Europe before or visited Zermatt this is a great chance to explore it with a host from Skican and your newfound ski friends.
Located in the Alps, Zermatt is an idyllic mountain village at the foot of Switzerland’s iconic Matterhorn peak. It includes the villages of Zermatt, Täsch, and Randa, where alpinists, ski fans, and nature lovers meet. Guests conveniently reach the center of the alpine village by train (Zermatt has been car-free since 1891). Walking is the transport of choice, both during summer and winter, or you can take a horse carriage or an electric taxi.
Linked with the Italian resort of Cervinia (you can go there for lunch!), Zermatt boasts a vast 360km ski area with lots of variety. The three main ski areas offer wide open slopes for beginners while the more advanced skiers enjoy the challenge of the internationally known Tiefbach, Aeroleid, and Momatt. The Klein Matterhorn cable car, ascending to 12,533 feet is the highest cable car station in the Alps providing access to glacier ski runs year-round.
Ski Escapers looking for off-piste activities will be delighted. Sledding, curling, ice climbing, snowshoeing, and winter hiking are all available.
