“Alyeska” is an Aleut word meaning “Great land of the white to the east”. This resort is a playground for all levels of skiers and riders. It is located just 40 miles south of Anchorage, Alaska, in Chugach State Park, offering glacier-filled vistas and Northern Lights sightings. The mountain is home to a 60-passenger aerial scenic tram with panoramic views, 1,610 acres of varied terrain, 76 trails, and over 669 inches of snow annually. The tram is a three to seven-minute scenic ride from the Hotel Alyeska to the top of Mt. Alyeska. At an elevation of 2300 feet, witness frosty views of the Turnagain Arm, up to seven “hanging” glaciers, and endless peaks deep into the Chugach Mountain range. The terrain is suitable for beginner, intermediate, advanced, and expert levels with 52% weighted towards the advanced intermediate skier.
Stay at the base and ski out each morning after breakfast from the Alyeska Resort and gather with friends at the end of the day to trade stories.
