Skiing has given us so much. It’s time to give back.
For more than 55 years, Skican has helped travellers experience extraordinary days in the mountains. We’ve seen firsthand how skiing builds confidence, creates friendships and family traditions, and inspires lifelong memories.
Our past efforts included carbon offsetting. Now, we’re building on that commitment by investing more directly in the people, communities and mountain environments connected to the sport we love. Ski for Good is our commitment to creating a tangible, lasting impact—and helping more people experience everything the mountains have to offer.
We believe the future of skiing depends on three things: healthy mountain environments, strong local communities and a sport in which more people feel welcome.
That’s why Ski for Good provides funding support and greater visibility to organizations creating meaningful change in and around the mountains.
We’re starting with practical multi-year commitments and trusted community partners—and we’ll share what we accomplish along the way.
#KeepTheStokeAlive
Opening Up the Slopes
We support programs that reduce financial, social and practical barriers to skiing and snowboarding.
Backing Mountain Communities
We invest in community-led projects that help local people experience and benefit from the mountains around them.
Protecting the Places We Ski
Our long-term goal is to support meaningful, measurable work that protects mountain environments for future generations.
Keeping the Stoke Alive
We encourage the next generation of skiers and snowboarders to get on the mountain, embrace the sport and build a lasting connection with nature.
Ski for Good is guided by a committee of Skican team members who share a commitment to making skiing more accessible and supporting the communities and places that make the sport possible.
The committee helps select community partners, coordinate Skican’s support and ensure each initiative aligns with our mission: skiing should be for everyone, forever.
A school ski day should be something every student can look forward to—not something a child misses because their family cannot afford it.
Ski for Good supports the Northern Snow Angels program at Shames Mountain, which helps remove barriers to youth participation in snow sports by providing lift access, rentals and lessons to students who would otherwise be unable to participate.
Together, we’re helping more young people in Northwest British Columbia experience the joy of a day in the mountains.
For the second year, Ski for Good is proud to support a ski day with Brown Girl Outdoor World.
Brown Girl Outdoor World is changing the outdoor narrative through adventure, education and advocacy. Together, we’re helping create a welcoming opportunity for community members to experience skiing, build confidence and share a memorable day on snow.
We’re beginning with two committed community partnerships and a belief that meaningful change starts with action.
