Located in the Alps, Zermatt is an idyllic mountain village at the foot of Switzerland’s iconic Matterhorn peak. It includes the villages of Zermatt, Täsch, and Randa, where alpinists, ski fans, and nature lovers meet. Guests conveniently reach the center of the alpine village by train (Zermatt has been car-free since 1891). Walking is the transport of choice, both during summer and winter, or you can take a horse carriage or an electric taxi.
Linked with the Italian resort of Cervinia (you can go there for lunch!), Zermatt boasts a vast 360km ski area with lots of variety. The three main ski areas offer wide open slopes for beginners while the more advanced skiers enjoy the challenge of the internationally known Tiefbach, Aeroleid, and Momatt.
